What are you thankful for in sports? We ask that question to a cavalcade of bloggers from all reaches of the internet.
First up,
AJ Daulerio from
Deadspin joins us to talk about what he’s thankful for this sports year. It involves the Phillies, obviously. He’s also
thankful for the most fascinating baby in America. Seriously, how much do
we love this baby?
Nick is thankful for the show Friday Night Lights, so we discuss his love affair for that. We also talk about the BCS and college hoops, the demise of the Eagles, the rise of Joe Biden and the reprise of the BS Report. Oh, and AJ thinks he looks like actor Charlie Day. We’re thankful to him for joining us yet again.
Next up,
Lisa Winston from
MiLB.com. She has a column out today of her
A-Z of what she’s thankful for, so we get some insights to that. Those Rutgers fans will be happy to know that the letter Y stands for Young, Eric. Both E.Y. senior and junior make her list as the penultimate letter of the alphabet. We also talk about why minor league baseball is as popular as it is, and how that’s not the case with any other sport. What’s it like covering the world of minor league baseball for a living?
Next,
Ian Casselberry from
Bless You Boys joins us to talk his comprehensive list of Detroit-area thankfuls. He’s actually thankful for the Lions. Yeesh. But seriously, he brings up a good point. Why not be thankful for the worst team ever? You need to start somewhere. If they were 3-13, who cares? But 0-16....that’s worthy of change. We also talk about Beilein and Rich Rod...and which he’s actually thankful for. Did people in Ann Arbor think this was going to happen to the mighty Wolverines? Wow.
Following that we talk with
Zach Harper from
Talkhoops.net about his thankfuls. He has nice things to say about our show (and we’re thankful for that) and we talk some hoops including the hub bub of LeBron going to NY....in two years. We also talk about how this crazy world of blogging and podcasting has created quite a social network. And yes, I was too lazy to get a photo, so he gets a logo.
Last up, we talk with
Dan Steinberg from the
DC Sports Bog and get his thankful list. Basically he hates commercialism in sports. Somewhere in there, he’s thankful for something...and it’s actually quite good. We talk about small-time college basketball. Seriously is there anything better in sports than that? Steinz complains about big-time sports, but his thanks are worth it when he gets there. Oh, and we talk Tofurky! Yes, the ins and outs of Tofurky.
Thank you, and have a great Thanksgiving.
