Last week, Michael Tunison, a reporter for the Washington Post Metro section, was fired.  This probably wouldn’t be that big a deal around the country.  I’m sure writers get fired all the time.  So why do we at the DL care?

Well, Tunison is also known by the moniker Christmas Ape at superblog Kissing Suzy Kolber.  This week, as the peeps at KSK are starting a new deal that should get them lots more readers and lots more cash,  Ape went public with his real name, and posted a photo (below) of him piss drunk with the Pirate Parrot.  So the Post fired him. 

This unleashed a fury on the Post, and galvanized the bloggers (and blog followers, we here call blogsniffers) against both the Post, and mainstream media as a whole. 

We talked with Tunison about his firing, if he orchestrated this whole thing and what he thinks about some of his former Post colleagues including Wilbon, Kornheiser and Steinberg. 

We also chat about how much fun it is to rip on idiot athletes and get paid for it.
