Daulerio Talks Deadspin Shakeup
AJ Daulerio from Deadspin is back on the show to talk about the big changes at one of the best sports blogs in the country. AJ gives some heartfelt thoughts on the departure of Deadspin editor Will Leitch and we ask how this huge news has impacted his week professionally, and personally.
It’s a tough spot for AJ to be in. He went back to Deadspin a few months ago, then Will drops this bomb, and says that it has been in the works for a while – dating back to before the HBO debacle. So conspiracy theorists, of which I am one, might surmise that AJ was brought back with his head down and hand extended behind him, waiting for the baton to be passed his way. That said, this is a VERY public situation, and without any firm decisions, it’s hard for AJ to give his thoughts on things. In listening to him, I honestly don’t think he knows anything firm – at least not anything that he can say on the record. It’s clear from what he says to us, however, that the head job is one that he wants.
AJ also gets the chance to rip me for the Darren Daulton interview and we discuss ‘real’ journalism, and somehow equate me to Jay Mariotti.
After a weather delay, we talk NBA Finals and the Kobe Bryant rumors and if horse racing and boxing are being replaced by the likes of NASCAR and MMA.
Last, it’s Father’s Day weekend coming up. Is it the best weekend in all of sports?
