Due to a family situation, AJ Benza will join us next week, but we wanted to put up a show and thought it was a good time to have one of our ol’ smorgasbord shows.

We talk trade deadline and Manny being Money.  Keep in mind, we taped this show Wednesday night, so take everything we say with the appropriate 16-hours ago grain of salt.  Especially that whole part about the Marlins not taking on Manny’s salary.  Forgot that the Sox could just handle that for them.   Jerks.

We also talk about upstart young Packers quarterback Brett Favre.  I’m not sure if you heard the news, but Favre called it quits in the off-season.  Now he wants to un-retire.  And the entire league, nay COUNTRY, is being held hostage in the process. 

We go from one guy who should hang it up to another - JoePa.  Paterno has lost control of the State Penn football team and turned it into Miami North.  Well, even Miami has cleaned up its act compared to the goings on at PSU.  This is more like “The U” from the late eighties and early nineties, ironically back when JoePa was in his late eighties and early nineties.  (Thanks to our pal Steve Merino for the graphic).

We also talk about the upcoming Smog Olympics and whether or not I should go to the Soul rally.  Yes, I would be a liar if I don’t go as I promised Jaws I would do so if they won the title.  Who thought they’d actually win the damn title?  So I don’t know if I’m going.  I may just go to the Bon Jovi concert.  It think that’s fair.
