ON THE DL
Aditi Kinkhabwala Is Back On the DL
Aditi Kinkhabwala from The Record and SI.com is back on the show! She was our first-ever media guest (a long time ago) and she’s back to talk about college football and the collapse of the Mets. I hope.
We touch on the Mets, and it turns out, they are nervous in Flushing. He’s proof:
“Here’s the funny thing. Usually at this time of year, the Mets media relations staff will send out an opportunity to purchase playoff tickets for the media. I just asked if there was a chance for us to buy tickets, and the media relations person I spoke to said they’re too nervous to put out those requests just yet.”
“They did put out yesterday – yesterday I received my credential application for the Division series. But they’re still not selling tickets to the media members. They are a very superstitious bunch up there in Queens.”
Oooooooooooooh. That excites me. We chat about the rivalry and I wonder if people in New York are doubled over in pain as much as we are. Turns out, maybe moreso. I love that.

We also get into the topic on the Rutgers message boards a few weeks ago about the logo, and who exactly designed said logo. Anyone who thinks (and writes) that a head football coach of a major conference school actually designed something – like sat at a computer and designed something – is a moron and should be have their season tickets revoked. Or shot. Glad I got that out.
Aditi is an AP voter, so we talk about how she became a voter and get very in depth about the process of voting each week. Covering one team all year, it has to be hard to watch enough games to have an accurate sense of what the 25 best teams are...and in what order.
That flows into a conversation about the importance and necessity of preseason polls and how much they sway the landscape of the season.
We talk about media swag, and if she’s gotten any good promotional materials being an AP voter. Turns out, Rutgers has the best. We also talk about this season, and how for many teams including Ohio State, it’s already over.
Oh, and I try to bet her that if the Mets choke, she’ll let us pick one week for her in the AP Poll. Does she take us up on the bet? Listen...
At the end, Nick Tarnowski joins me to talk more about the college football situation, including the revisitation of a playoff system. We also talk about how far this little show has come since the last time we had Aditi on.
