Welcome to the first of our Daily Podcasts. Let’s set some ground rules.

The show will invariably be the same, with both long-form interviews and Nick and Dan getting on their collective high horse about events in sports, media, politics and pop culture.

Most weeks, Tuesday and Thursday will be our long-form interview shows with some of the biggest names in sports, media, politics...whatever. The new shows we’re adding on Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be a little different -- a little more structure and a little more opportunity for us, and you, to rant. A giant soapbox was, after all, what the show was built on. 

We will employ a rotating array of segments, several of which give both the listener and some other podcasters/bloggers the spotlight. But for today, here’s the rundown:

The Weekend That Was: Every Monday we’ll tackle one storyline from the weekend that was. This week, since Dan grew up a Broncos fan and Nick and an Eagles fan, we talk about Brian Dawkins -- what’s Denver gain is surely (and more decidedly) Philly’s loss.

Print’s Not Dead: This segment will usually find some diamonds in the rough of the print industry, including discussions on books, magazine and newspapers. For today, however, print very well may be dead. We discuss the loss of some newspapers this week, some other bankruptcies and wonder what the future holds -- is it citizen journalism like we’re trying to provide? To Dan, economics seem to say yes, but Nick argues that there’s more to it than just money.

The Soapbox: A weekly segment where we rant on anything we want. The only rules, we each get two minutes and that two minutes is un-interrupted (other than the occasional “Amen” perhaps). Then we’ll invite you, the listener, to give us 60 seconds of your best vitriol and we’ll play that as well. (Today, just us).

Nick goes off on the rudeness of people in public. And sounds like an old man. Dan goes off on the NBA getting a bailout and at one point asks for one himself. Email us to get involved.

Housekeeping: A quick hit of what’s coming up the rest of the week. This will usually be the segment dedicated to email as well. But for today, just us.
