What do you call the day after Opening Day? How about Tuesday.

But first...Nick and I talk about the National Championship game. If you thought the game was a snoozer, you were right. I fell asleep and watched about 15 minutes of the entire game. Wait, I watched about 3 minutes of actual game play. Nick watched a bit more, but with the game being out of hand so quickly, there were other things to do. Like sleep. I did catch One Shining Moment, which always delivers (Double Order!)

So congrats to the UNC Tar Heels. And to Ian Casselberry who won our Bracket Challenge and will be getting himself a $65 gift card to Amazon. And he’s a Michigan fan, so yesterday was probably twice as sweet.

We also congratulate the newest inductees to the Basketball Hall of Fame. I worked for many years with (for?) Vivian Stringer and we celebrate her induction into the Hall. Oh, and a few other people got in too. Some coach named Jerry Sloan. A little guy named Stockton. Some guy who was an Admiral. And a guy who has a lot of shoes. Yes, it must be the shoes that got him in.

We pose the question - is this the best Hall of Fame class of all time?

Speculation Station: Much was made about Detroit’s economic woes during the Road to the Final Four. We threw this up on Twitter yesterday and thought it was worth discussing -- is Detroit the worst city in America to host a major sporting event? Many said yes. Others suggested Jacksonville, Houston and even New York City. We run the gamut on many of the nation’s cities and realize that there are only a handful of cities (less than 10 and only 1-2 of the top five markets) that will ever be able to host a Final Four again. With the need for an enclosed arena that can fit 50-70k, the choices are very limited.

And no matter what we think of Detroit, Cleveland, Houston, etc. keep in mind this topic was brought up because of the anniversary of the Bird-Magic matchup in the Championship game, which was played in SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH. You think THAT will happen again?

Baseball, Baseball Baseball: We briefly touch on Opening Day. The Mets pitching staff looked great. The Yankees did not. And we wonder how much the crowd impacts a player’s ability to perform. Was Mark Teixeira’s performance affected by the constant booing in Baltimore? Do players hear it when fans boo?

And why, oh why, are we playing the first week of baseball games in Boston and Chicago and other outdoor cities north of, say, Maryland? Why wouldn’t Tampa and Boston play at the Trop -- an indoor stadium in, hello, FLORIDA. Considering the fact that Tampa won the American League last year, it’s silly.

Housekeeping: We talk about the recent decision for the University of Maryland to allow a student organization to play a pornographic film on campus. The State Legislature got involved and now some right-wing radio hosts in DC are asking for the president of UM to be fired. Say what you will about pornography, but they are college students. The movie wasn’t being shown in a Kinder Care. And who spends $10-million dollars on a porn movie? I could think of other ways that money could ‘stimulate’ the economy.

Last, we need help with our Masters pools. We have Tiger. We need to fill out a foursome.
