ON THE DL
Leitch, Daulerio & Pabst on the Dan Patrick Experience.
Plus: Pitino News, PGA Preview & Go USA
Lots of news in the news from a news standpoint today. But first...

Rather than give a full critique of the show, I’ll say this: it got better as the show went on, and by the end, they had a pretty interesting radio conversation going. We discuss how their comfort level with the radio process compared to the comfort level they had with their guests. Early on, they talked with friends in the industry, and just when they started to get the hang of this radio thing, they introduced Deadspin nemesis Jason Whitlock.

Pabst explains that he got many emails from people thinking it would devolve into an Artie Lange situation, especially with Daulerio. But for those who know AJ from our show, he’s pretty trustworthy with things like that. Were the people at the DP Show concerned? How close was his finger to the dump button. And I ask Pabst if he, specifically, felt it easier or harder to work with radio newbies he can mold, than someone like Patrick who has been doing this forever and may be harder to critique?
Last, we talk about their radio future? Is there a future? Is this something either of them would like to do again, and could this be something we see from Deadspin in the future. They have the Deadcast built in, so could there be a Deadspin Radio channel coming soon?
Court Report:
Nick comes back in to talk about the Rick Pitino story, where the Louisville Courier Journal is reporting he did admit to police that he had sex with Karen Sypher in a restaurant and that he gave her $3000 to get an abortion. Yikes.

At this point, the only one charged with anything is Sypher, so if you go by the law, we’re expected to believe Pitino in this situation. This, on the heels of Ben Roethlisberger’s civil suit, and news coming out that the woman in that case was hoping to have a ‘Ben’ in the oven (per reports), it becomes increasingly hard to believe women in high-profile rape cases that get played out in the news.
This is not a good thing. There are too many actual rapes in this country, and too many times women are afraid to come forward at the risk of their lives being picked apart by media. Is that fair, or have their been too many cases where the allegations are fabricated that we’re led to believe the famous man first?

We briefly talk about golfers being put on the clock to introduce PGA Championship this weekend and discuss who Nick should pick for his year-long fantasy pool. Who do you have? Nick is letting listeners pick one player for him (not Tiger).
Housekeeping:
Will the US Soccer team win today in Mexico? I say they will. Why not? It’s just a stadium. It’s just a country. They aren’t playing on the moon. They are a better team than Mexico, aren’t they? I guess we find out today.
And we talk about the Philly Daily News story that members of the Pittsburgh Steelers, back in 2006, were shooting guns with PA State Police. Insane. We wrote it up over at The Sporting Blog.
Stefan Fatsis comes back tomorrow. I’ll try not to call him my hero again.
