PODCAST: ON THE DL
PODCAST: ON THE DL
Still stuck in bowl guide purgatory so it’s another short recap, which is a shame because today’s show is really good. So listen. Sorry not much to read.
We start with a breakdown of the blockbuster trade in MLB yesterday in which the Yankees land Curtis Granderson, who I love. We dissect the deal.
Inside the Press Box:
We talk about Bryant Gumbel’s announcement that he had surgery for lung cancer, and subsequent treatments, and NEVER TOLD ANYONE. Obviously his wife, and maybe some close friends, knew about the surgery, but he kept it from getting out in the media and even from him own staff at Real Sports. Obviously we’re glad to see he’s doing well and hope he continues his road to recovery.
MUSIC....
Spencer Hall, aka Orson Swindle, just finished taping his show at EDSBS.com and hops on with us to talk about the BCS, Brian Kelly to Notre Dame (and if we’d be having that conversation had Texas not gotten that one second back and Cincinnati were in the title game) and all things college football, including who the new Richmond Spiders coach may be.
Oh, and we marvel at the fact that Tim Tebow won the formerly-known-as Draddy Trophy last night, given as the ‘Academic Heisman.’ He took, what, one class?
Inside the Press Box, continued:
We discuss Peter Gammons leaving ESPN and going to MLBN. Are we all going to join him full-time? And even though his contract is up, how did he not have a non-compete? Did his contract just predate MLBN or is that not something a guy like Gammons would even have at ESPN. (hint: we don’t know, we aren’t contract lawyers).
Housekeeping:
We talk Jersey Shore. That is all.
Thanks for listening.
