PODCAST: ON THE DL
PODCAST: ON THE DL
Brackets start today! Well, brackets get busted today. I can’t wait.
You can sign up for our bracket challenge at http://onthedlpodcast.com/bracket.html password is podcast.
But first...we talk about Kornheiser crushing me. Maybe I’m just a jerk. And you know what, maybe I’m okay with that.
We talk brackets, but decide not to pick brackets, because honestly, do any of you care who we’re picking? No, but you can watch what my kid picked on YouTube and that’s good enough. We discuss what other stories people tell that bore the crap out of everyone, including poker hands and fantasy football. Anything we missed?
We do discuss the concept of building your bracket -- one, more than one, etc. Yep, we don’t talk about our brackets, but we talk about talking about our brackets. Even MORE riveting.
We also discuss the NCAA and APR and the list that comes out every tournament that shows us who the smartest schools are. There’s actually a bracket for it this year (and UNC would win the title). Pretty neat stuff.
Political Safari: We talk about President Obama filling out a bracket with Andy Katz. How much of a real guy do we want our president to be? And what’s with his relationship with ESPN? He really wants America to think he’s cool, eh?
Well, going on the Tonight Show might not help the ‘cool’ factor, but he’s doing just that tonight. We discuss Obama’s PR tour and public campaigning for support. Is it a good idea with everything going on in the country?
Baseball, eh: We touch on the WBC and how fantastic it is that the US won a game late, but does it really matter, or it matters because it’s in front of us? In other words, if the WBC ceased to exist, would anyone care?
That’s an issue because so many players are getting hurt. What can they do to avoid injuries? There might be pitchers playing the field in the finals. Is this what we want to see?
We also touch on Aaron Boone’s announcement that he needs open heart surgery. Scary stuff, and we forget that these invincible athletes are just regular guys too. We wish Boone good luck, and take the the opportunity to crush Ed Wade for being a terrible GM.
Housekeeping: We talk some hockey, wondering how big a deal this Martin Brodeur record really is. And we plug our appearance on KSK’s podcast which was hilarious and a lot of fun. We talk about the Deadcast, which was hilarious and a lot of fun (but not as much fun as the KSK show with us of course). And we plug our brackets yet again.
Thanks and enjoy the best Thursday in sports.
