Friday. We’ve gotten through another week. And after yesterday, we’re talking more Madness.

We discuss the start of March Madness. Was it just me, or did the tournament kind of start with a whimper? I long for the days of quad-screen balls flying in the air to start it off. But alas, we discuss the first day in full. What were some of the better games? And how about the video quality of March Madness On Demand? Wow.

Inside the Press Box: We continue on our Bracket Talk, including a more in-depth look at March Madness On Demand.  Why can’t they give us the actual halftime show instead of the cable-access program they are giving us?  And how in the world did this video player get built without a running scoreboard? It’s the worst transgression I could think of. Maybe they had to leave room for another Pontiac ad.

We respond to ESPN scribe Mark Schlabach’s column talking about how predictable and almost boring the first day was. We also talk about Steve Lavin’s interesting comments about Philadelphia and Bobby Knight’s transformation into a giant white-haired tomato.

The Weekend that Is: What will you be doing this weekend? I’ll be eschewing yard work to watch more basketball. But we wonder what other people who don’t care about March Madness do on this weekend.

Email of the Week: We get a lot of great email. A lot. But we thought it was silly to spend every week lauding our audience for their great emails and reading emails that tell us how much people like the show, blah blah blah. Most weeks we’ll use insightful commentary (like last week’s math genius). Some weeks, it’s hate mail. Today is one of those weeks.

Well, not hate mail, per se, as they always end with ‘love the show.’ But the four paragraphs before seem to indicate otherwise. Take for example, this line from this week’s winner: I might care about your opinion on these things in a few years, after you are established as a sports podcaster.

Very well then.
