PODCAST: ON THE DL
PODCAST: ON THE DL
Where’d everybody go?
We are back after a holiday break and we promise not to have too much rust. We start with some NFL talk, but mostly through the eyes of the media in towns like Denver and Philly. Denver, you know, missed the playoffs, so we wonder how many writers around the country, and in the city, will shoot off one of the ‘fire the coach’ columns today. We hope not too many.
In Philly, columnists are calling the team gutless. What a day to be in this town. The panic is setting in after a SHUTOUT at the hands of a Dallas team they’ll have to face again. Just a fun time to be a Philly sports fan.
We talk more NFL stuff as well, but hold off on playoff talk until later in the week when we can get someone on who knows about that junk.
Culture Pop:
We talk a lot about the deal that FOX made with Time Warner Cable. In short, we’re all screwed. When will the a la carte cable option get here? Not soon enough.
Speculation Station:
We’ve been away, so we didn’t get to talk about the Mike Leach situation. We discuss it from the side of Craig James. Did he leverage his media credibility in this situation because he was too close to the story? Or, as a game analyst, is he even a member of the media to begin with?
Also, this was clearly a cost-saving measure by Texas Tech, but don’t they realize that – ESPN analysts on their side or note – firing Leach was the first step to becoming irrelevant again?
And don’t kids talk to other players before they go to a school? Wouldn’t they know Leach was a whackjob disciplinarian?
We also touch on the O.J. Mayo situation. Hmmm.....Tim Floyd was involved in something shady? Shocker. And a self-report happens all the time. It’s the NCAA’s way of making schools pay their taxes so they don’t get audited. And obviously USC doens’t want to get audited.
Housekeeping:
We get a rat update. Looks promising.
Thanks for coming back. More to come.
